Our Soft Landscaping Services

A lush, colorful garden border in soft sunlight, featuring bright pink flowers in the foreground, clusters of purple blossoms, ornamental grasses, and dense green foliage.

Bespoke Planting Schemes

No two gardens are the same, and we don't treat them as if they are. Every planting scheme we design is built around the specific character of the space - the soil, the light, the way it's used, and what the client actually wants from it. Toby leads on all of this, drawing on years of experience across styles ranging from modern architectural planting to naturalistic woodland and traditional cottage borders.

We take care of everything from sourcing through to installation and aftercare advice. If you're starting from scratch or refreshing something that's lost its way, we'll make it work.

A gently winding wooden boardwalk curves through a well-maintained green lawn in a park-like setting. The path is bordered by lush grass, with a few trees and colorful flower beds visible in the background.

Turfing

A well-laid lawn transforms a garden. Our team handles every stage of the turfing process; ground preparation, grading, soil improvement, and the laying of high-quality turf - to ensure a level, healthy finish that establishes quickly and lasts.

We'll advise on the right turf variety for how the space is used, whether that's a fine ornamental lawn or something more hardwearing for a family garden.

A mature Japanese maple stands in a mulched planting bed surrounded by ornamental plants. Fine sprays from a micro-irrigation system water the garden, with a residential property visible in the background.

Micro-Irrigation Installation

Hand watering large planting schemes is time-consuming and rarely consistent. Micro-irrigation solves that by delivering water directly to where the plants need it, cutting water use considerably and keeping the planting in good condition even through dry spells.

We design and install systems for borders, raised beds, and containers of all sizes. Most can be connected to programmable controllers, so the garden is looked after whether you're there or not.

Commercial Soft Landscaping

We work regularly with developers, property managers, and commercial landlords on larger-scale projects. New-build developments, commercial premises, managed estates - our team has the capacity and experience to deliver to programme and specification.

We're used to working alongside architects and main contractors, coordinating planting and turfing works within a wider construction schedule and providing the documentation required. Ongoing maintenance is available too, for clients who want the grounds kept to a consistent standard throughout the year.

Professional & Efficient

We engaged Nathan and team to trim back trees and hedges and to remove some woody and overgrown lavender plants. They turned up nice and early and got on with the job. The end resultant is very satisfying and both the good lady and myself are pleased with their work. The property has been left in a very clean state too.

Very Professional

Sean has been maintaining my garden since 1996. His team are very professional, efficient, extremely caring and considerate. Over the years, Sean has added and/or subtracted from the garden, all aspects of plants as and when they have developed or matured.

Polite and Helpful

The two gardeners are polite and helpful and take a pride in their work. Our residents appreciate this. It is a pity that none of our management team (directors) have more time to spend with them every Monday due to their other commitments. So more regular site meetings would certainly be helpful.

    FAQS

    What is soft landscaping?

Soft landscaping covers all the living elements of a garden: plants, trees, shrubs, lawns, and hedging, as well as the systems that support them, such as irrigation. It is distinct from hard landscaping, which refers to paving, walls, fencing, and structures. SK Landscapes specialises in soft landscaping, including bespoke planting schemes, turfing, and micro-irrigation installation.

    What areas do you cover?

We work across South East London and Kent, including Bromley, Chislehurst, Orpington, Beckenham, Sevenoaks, Bickley, Croydon, and the surrounding areas. If you are unsure whether we cover your location, get in touch and we will be happy to confirm.

Do you offer garden design as well as installation?

Yes. Our Garden Design service covers the creative and planning phase, producing detailed planting plans and design concepts for your space. Our soft landscaping team then brings those plans to life. The two services work closely together, and many clients use both.

    Garden Design

How long does a planting project typically take?

Timescales vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. A planting scheme for a standard residential garden typically takes one to three days to install. Larger projects involving turfing, irrigation, and extensive planting may take one to two weeks. We will give you a clear programme of works before we begin.

Do you supply the plants, or do I need to source them myself?

We handle everything. Our team sources all plants, turf, and materials directly, ensuring quality and suitability for your specific conditions. You do not need to arrange anything separately.

What is micro-irrigation and do I need it?

Micro-irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone of your plants through a network of small pipes and emitters. It reduces water use significantly compared to hand watering or sprinkler systems, and keeps planting looking its best through dry periods. It is particularly beneficial for larger planting schemes, raised beds, and gardens that are left unattended for periods of time.

Can you work from an existing garden design or planting plan?

Absolutely. If you already have a design from an architect or landscape designer, we are experienced in working to detailed plans and specifications. We are happy to review drawings ahead of providing a quote.

How do I get a quote?

Contact us by phone on 020 8462 7800 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We will arrange a site visit to discuss your requirements and provide a detailed written quotation.
